Q. How long will my resume stay posted on HireEd.net?
Your resume will remain on HireEd.net for 3 months. You will be notified via e-mail two weeks before it is removed so that you can resubmit it for 3 months without having to rekey in your information. (Of course, we're sure you'll be busy in your new job by then.)

Q. After I fill out and submit the registration form I get an e-mail message that my submission is undeliverable. What is happening?
The most likely explanation for this is that you have not keyed in your entire e-mail address correctly. Because HireEd.net is an Internet-based service, it relies on being able to communication with you via e-mail. If HireEd.net attempts to send you a registration confirmation and gets an error message, it forwards a similar message to you so that you know HireEd.net was unable to establish a registration for you. Therefore, it is critical that you key in your entire e-mail address correctly, including the extension (i.e., .edu, .com, .org, and so on). Ледяное обертывание.

Q. What is a cookie? Must I accept them to use HireEd.net?
HireEd.net relies on cookies to operate. In simple terms, a cookie is a tiny file a web site writes to a computer's hard drive that contains information users need each time they visit the site (such as passwords and user IDS). Cookies make it so users don't have to input the information each time they visit the site.
If your computer is not set up to accept cookies, you will get the message that you have been timed out and have to log in again each time you go from one page to another on HireEd.net because HireEd.net will not be able to find your registration information.
Setting up a computer to accept cookies is different for each browser, so if you are not sure whether your computer is set up to accept them, contact your Internet service provider. The cookie setting is found under Internet Options or Preferences. You will need to accept all cookies. And be sure not to select "Warn me before accepting cookies" or you will have to press OK to accept them each time you change pages on HireEd.net and on other web sites.

Q. I keep getting a message that I have been Timed Out of HireEd.net. What can I do to avoid this?
Most Timed Out messages occur for one of two reasons. First, if you are at a single HireEd.net web page (or any other web site's page for that matter) for more than 20 minutes without interacting with the site, the site will think you have walked away from your computer and will log you out. This happens most often to HireEd.net users who are typing in their resumes directly onto HireEd.net. Because they are parked on the same page as they enter information, HireEd.net has no way to know they are still working. The best way to avoid this is to create your resume in a word-processing program (WordPerfect, MSWord, etc.) and then paste it into the HireEd.net resume box so you are not on the page for 20 minutes. (This way you also have a copy of your resume on your computer for later use.) If you cannot cut and paste an existing resume, you can submit your information to HireEd.net in 15 minute increments and then immediately update it until you have it all entered. This, however, will take much more time than cutting and pasting, which is why HireEd.net is set up to accept pasted resumes.
You might also get a Timed Out message if your computer does not accept cookies. See "What is a cookie?" in this FAQ.

Q. I have used HireEd.net in the past, but am not able to log on now. What could be wrong?
The most likely answer is that your password has expired. HireEd.net candidate passwords expire when not used for three months. If you have not used your password for three months, you will need to re-register. If you have used it more recently and are having trouble, contact us at HireEd@ascd.org and we'll try to help you determine what the trouble might be.
